Jealous Ex Calls Army Veteran’s Girlfriend 47 Times After Fatal Shooting

HOUSTON, TX (February 20, 2025) — In a tragic and chilling case of obsession turned deadly, 23-year-old Tatyana Lashea Evans is accused of murdering 28-year-old U.S. Army veteran Geovanni Montague on February 9, 2025. The crime, which unfolded in northwest Harris County, has revealed a disturbing history of violence and harassment.

Montague was found dead in the street outside his home on Barely Lane with multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities say Evans confronted him after discovering text messages from his girlfriend on his phone. Following a heated argument, she allegedly shot him five or six times before fleeing the scene.

Surveillance footage captured Evans’ car speeding away with its headlights off shortly after the shooting. She was arrested two days later and charged with murder after admitting to the killing during police questioning.

Evans’ relationship with Montague had long since ended, but she remained a lingering presence in his life. Her desperation turned violent on New Year’s Day 2024 when she stabbed Montague in the neck while he was sleeping. After surviving the attempt, he cut ties with her for nearly a year. However, in December 2024, Evans resurfaced, issuing death threats when Montague refused to re-engage with her—threats that he reported to police, though no charges were filed.

Police reports indicate that in the moments following the fatal shooting, Evans made a chilling series of 47 consecutive phone calls to Montague’s girlfriend, and sent numerous [unanswered] texts demanding a conversation and assigning blame for his murder with some messages stating, “This is all because of you…”.

Montague was a highly decorated U.S. Army veteran who served his country with honor and was deeply loved by family and friends. Known for his generosity and selflessness, he sought to help others—even those who didn’t deserve it—making his death all the more heartbreaking. His kindness toward Evans ultimately cost him his life.

Geovanni Montague’s loved ones now mourn the loss of a man whose compassion was taken advantage of—a hero whose life was stolen.

Evans is currently being held on a $250,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 3, 2025.
