List of things to do in Kennesaw

Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park – As you might have guessed already, this site is of particular historical significance as it once witnessed a major battle during the American Civil War. It was a battle that lasted almost a month in 1864, in which, the forces of the Confederate triumphed against General Sherman’s troops. While the summit of the mountain offers breathtaking views of the region, the museum in the park features an array of civil war artifacts. That is not all! The 28 km walking trail allows people to explore other defenses dating back to the days of the battle, making it one of the most interesting places to visit in Kennesaw.

Lazy Guy Distillery – While the distillery here is fairly new when it comes to the distillation of whiskey, it’s still worth a peek. This is a perfect place for those who’ve always wanted to get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into making a craft spirit. The guided tour inside includes sample tastings of various Lazy Guy whiskeys, and visitors also get to enjoy cocktails. However, if you’re not quite fond of whiskey and bourbon, you can definitely check out their vodka and gin.

Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History – For a more precise understanding of what unfolded during the Civil War, try paying a visit to the Southern Museum. It includes a barn and the museum’s centerpiece – a steam engine known as the General. The steam locomotive was part of the Great Locomotive Chase, when in 1862, it was stolen by the Unionist forces in hopes of disrupting the southern railroads, resulting in a chase that went down in history.

Original Buffalo Wings – It was back in 1964 that the Original Buffalo Wings were created right in the kitchen of Anchor Bar, and has since remained a hot favorite among the locals as well as the tourists. Whether you are simply looking to hang out with your friends and family or looking to grab a bite and fill your appetite, this is a great place for those in love with amazing chicken wings. The handcrafted cocktails and the Buffalo Wings dipped in a delightfully tasty array of sauces, make this a special spot and a perfect fit in this list of things to do in Kennesaw.

Six Flags White Water – On the way to the East Palisades Trail (another great place to visit), you might as well spend some time at the Six Flags White Water – a notable amusement park in the United States, on the eastern outskirts of Marietta. The park spans out on an area of 280,000 square meters, with 20 main attractions divided into four themed areas. It is widely recommended because the park has many water slide-based rides, of which most are quite safe even for children.

Old Railroad Depot – While Kennesaw’s link with the railways was lost in 1968 when passenger services were permanently terminated after more than 100 years, the station was subsequently converted into a small museum. It now houses various aspects of Kennesaw’s past within its walls. The small wooden structure is a perfect showpiece of how the railroad played an important role in Kennesaw’s history. The other areas show the plight of the Native Americans, who were forcefully removed from their ancestral lands.

SkyView Atlanta – Though not quite within the geographical confines of Kennesaw, SkyView Atlanta is located just 30 minutes away and presents a bird’s eye view of downtown Atlanta. The 15-minute ride in the gondolas of the Ferris wheel rises some 20 stories high and is worth a visit for those looking for a magical romantic escape, especially once the sun has set. Each gondola can accommodate a maximum of just six people for a more personal experience and has fitted seating. However, the VIP ones also come with glass flooring to further enhance the experience.
